“This is a wonderful, all inclusive church that really values building a great community. It embraces everyone from children to youth, students, adults...everyone who makes up the community. They work hard to make an atmosphere that is welcoming to all”

I was introduced to St Martin's St James when I first moved to Christchurch for University almost 4 years ago. In that time I have mainly volunteered as a Youth Leader but I have slowly become a regular attendee as well. This church community helped me to feel comfortable going to church, despite a judgmental world.

“As a child I was baptized at St Martin's and was in the youth choir. As an adult, I've been back attending for nearly 2 years - initially to support my daughters in finding a more spiritual way of life. Now we all love being part of the St MJ's whānau, have extended our faith family, made wonderful friendships and have the joy of seeing Christ at work.”

“I started going to church here about 5 years ago. I didn't know anything about Anglican churches at the time. What attracted me to the church was how welcomed I was. Going to a new church is hard because they are often quite cliquey. Also we have a 3 year old boy now. Over and over again he's been made to feel welcome even though he is really noisy, I've never had anyone judge or complain about him.”
